I am currently listening to Time of the Magicians: Wittgenstein, Benjamin, Cassirer, Heidegger, and the Decade That Reinvented Philosophy by Wolfram Eilenberger. (see Jan. 8 post) In Part V: 1923-1925 Eilenberger discusses the Warburg library. This led me down a rabbit hole to the following articles and resources:
- Aby Warburg: Bilderatlas Mnemosyne at Haus der Kulturen der Welt contemporary arts center in Berlin (includes videos and a virtual tour of the exhibition)
- This Atlas of Art and Memory Is a Wonder of the Modern World, by Martha Schwendener, NYTimes, May 14, 2020
- How Aby Warburg remapped art history, by Kathryn Murphy, Apollo Magazine, 13 February 2021
- Gerhard Richter’s Atlas
- Stephanie Syjuco zoom interview, 3 March 2021. Discussion of Aby Warburg starts at 49:00min.
